ABOUT

Welcome to the Cabin by the River... a light-filled, hand-built wooden chalet on the banks of the River Severn in Worcestershire, with views of the Cotswolds and the Malvern Hills.
The perfect escape for a peaceful waterside break or a creative retreat for writers, musicians and artists.
The cabin is located down a private track, 200 metres from the nearest road and sleeps four in two double bedrooms.
Its natural surroundings bring the outside in, and are reflected in the cabin's rustic mid-century interior.

BOOKING

The cabin is not advertised publicly and is only available through personal recommendation. So if you're reading this, then you are in the know!

Minimum stay is two nights. It is also available for long-term stays of several weeks or months, depending on the time of year.

Open Plan Living Area

Bright and airy in the summer and cosy in winter, the living room has French windows opening on to the deck, filling the space with morning light. In the evening the panoramic picture window provides stunning views of the sunset over the Malvern Hills. There is a woodburning stove, a record and CD player, and home cinema with projector, screen and Bang & Olufsen speakers.

Kitchen

The open-plan living area gives on to the kitchen for a sociable cooking experience. The kitchen features a gas cooker/stove, fridge/freezer, microwave, blender, Dualit toaster and an eclectic range of vintage mid-century tableware sourced from around the world. Even doing the washing-up is a pleasure with views of the river and meadow, and beyond to the Cotswolds.

The kitchen windows and the French windows in the living area look out over the river to the meadow opposite and beyond to the Cotswold Hills in the distance.

Front Bedroom

The front bedroom has large French windows that open on to the deck. Watch the dawn rise from bed, or sleep with the doors wide open on a warm summer's night. For cooler months there is an electric blanket. The bedroom also has a vintage mid-century teak desk/bureau with drawers for clothes storage.

Back Bedroom & Library

The rear bedroom features two large windows and a double bed specially raised to enable views of the Malvern Hills upon waking. There is a vintage mid-century desk/bureau with drawers for clothes storage, and an intriguing collection of books.

Panoramic Deck

A spacious deck runs along the length of the front of the cabin with views down the garden, over the river and to the Cotswold Hills in the distance. Perfect for an early morning yoga session or an evening sundowner. There is a charcoal BBQ, dining table & chairs for 6-8 people and coffee table & chairs (pictured).

Outdoor Dining

The dining table on the deck is positioned so as to enable views of the river AND the Malvern Hills. The ideal location for a sunrise breakfast or a sunset BBQ.

View through to Back Bedroom from Living Area

With windows in both east and west walls, the cabin is filled with light throughout the day. The back bedroom features blackout blinds for when you really need a lie-in.

Mid-Century Danish Piano

A small but perfectly formed 1960s piano by Danish company Louis Zwicki. Bash out a tune on those ol' 88s!

Wintry Dawn over the River Severn

Be warned, you may be woken up by the local tawny owl.

The garden features a mixture of trees including silver birch, Scots pine, corkscrew willow, and a small orchard of apple, plum and pear trees. There is a firepit and access to the river via a jetty at the bottom of the garden.

Winter at the Cabin

Frosty days mean cosy nights with the woodburning stove blazing.

The panoramic window in the living room was specially designed to frame the silhouette of the Malvern Hills.

Bathroom

The spacious bathroom is decorated in forest greens, natural wood and cork flooring. There is a full size bath with shower, and a washing machine.

Trip boats run from Upton-upon-Severn upstream to Worcester and downstream to Tewkesbury.

Upton Music Festivals

The Blues Festival, Folk Festival, Jazz Festival & The Sunshine Music Festival all take place in the summer.
